Indo – Polish Cultural Committee (IPCC), Embassy Of India and Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Invites you to a vocal concert:

Women on Record:
on the occasion of India @70 a celebration of Indian women?s journey from the Salon to the Studio.
‘Women on Record’ is a multi-mediapresentation bringing out stories of women performers, Diva’s of their time, music, theatre and film. The show comes with vocal music- Folk music, thumri, Geet and film songs, anecdotes and videos with archival images.


Nirgun naad:: Spiritual Music
?Nirgun Bhakti? is the devotion towards a formless, all-encompassing God. Centuries ago, some of the most powerful and ecstatic expressions of love, devotion and surrender to the ultimate were authored by the great saint poets from the Indian subcontinent. While some of these verses are direct and forthright in their simplicity, others contain complex allegory and metaphor. In her performance Vidya will sing the works of these medieval poets including lesser known names like Paltu Das.

Spiritual Music of India captures many types of devotional songs, including a bhajan, Vedic chanting, and even a popular kirtan (a call?and?response hymn of praise) sung every day at prayer meetings. Centuries ago, some of the most powerful and ecstatic expressions of love, devotion and surrender to the ultimate were authored by the great saint poets from the Indian subcontinent. While some of these verses are direct and forthright in their simplicity, others contain complex metaphor. In her performance Vidya Shah brings alive the works of the Bhakti poets.
